We were lucky enough to be asked by a personal friend Shah, the editor at the latest design/culture magazine to be interviewed and photographed for their June 2010 "Environmental Issue" Aesthetics is fresh, their staff kick ass and the vibe was so tight at the shoot. GABBING FOR CREATIVE CULTURE
Persuaded to speak on design and sustainability at Aesthetics magazine's 2nd Creative Culture series; 1/2 of ULTRA will be at your local pub taking the ULTRA movement to the next level. hello 2010!
So its been a miraculous year for the ULTRA's! It began with the blog, then shop and now we have had offers on so much more!!! But most importantly we are joyfully humbled by our followers, the one's who get what we do and the cause we so sweetly stand for. That is, sustainability
I mean 2009 was a year of constant reminder that something so insanely pressing is happening to our planet. If it wasn't for Al Gore's powerpoint slideshows, Gucci's worldwide HOME viewings or even the recent trippy Avatar that everyone keeps raving about. If you have not heard of climate change you truly are living on a different planet.
Here's a lil "wrap-up" of what's happened in the past decade that you should stick in your heads and make use of in 2010.
1) Organic/Locally sourced foods. Yes I know we aint got no whole foods in Asia but you DO have a choice people. Eat wisely.
2) Hybrid/Electric cars. Nothings sicker than rolling into town in your Prius then your nastily tricked up up carbon spitting gas guzzler. Even Aggy rides her retro bicycle.
3) Solar power. An abundance in Asia. Lets get our governments to start subsidizing more, develop new technologies and use nature's bright friend to power up more than just your tan.
4) Plant more trees. Get with your local Eco Warriors and get your hands dirty for once, trees are friends :)
5) Goodbye plastic bags! If you have not used a reusable bag this year, slap yourself. We make it easy with Baggu.
6) RE-Everything. Re-cycle your rubbish. Re-purpose your furniture. Re-vive your wardrobe. Re-lax a lil bit and enjoy the greener things in life ;)
7) Phantom energy no-more. Switch off your LCD, unplug it from the socket. Turn off the lights and save on em bills. You damn straight u could use the money on better things, am I right?
8) and lastly BUY ULTRA>>>> we like our suppliers, they are ethical, they support local communities and our products kick ass! Ask someone.
Happy 2010. Be human and lower your carbon footprint. Be humane and teach someone else how to.

So it came, the event everyone was anticipating. Zouk packed in with vendors and ULTRA as the only sustainable products booth with lots to share. The ULTRA's unable to attend yet the ULTRA dream team handled it like pro's. Cheers to all our supporters, here's to hoping you love your products as much as we love sourcing and sharing them with you. Next up, the Eco film fest!
