Persuaded to speak on design and sustainability at Aesthetics magazine's 2nd Creative Culture series; 1/2 of ULTRA will be at your local pub taking the ULTRA movement to the next level. Join us this wednesday 23rd June, 2010 for a night to win some / and lose some intellect on your typical treehugging interpretation of going green. We speak first on the night held at : The Library @ The Curve so show us some love.

Naked Month
Naked Retreats, Greenovate, Gecko and Shanghai Roots and Shoots get together for Naked Green Initiative month.
If you're in Shanghai and hadn't heard of Naked Retreats yet, here's a good time to perk up. Naked are a respite from city life up in the Moganshan hills. Beautiful in many ways, they search for a sustainable way of existence and for the month of March are hooking up with all the above for talks, hikes, workshops and an eco-design competition with the Raffles Design Institute.

The Battala Verde Mud Fight
Sling chunks of mud around for the greener good!
Battala Verde (or Green Battle) is a fight that sprouts green spaces. A dreamy mess of game, Urbanarborlismo got together in hopes of creating new green spaces on their coasts of the Mediterranean.
The optimum 'battlefield', a carpark-like slab of concrete in need of life; 'ammunition', of green mud slops laden with seeds; and a few rules, like fighting in groups permitted, and one idol per group.
The seeds of resistant plants won't need a lot of care post-battle and should sprout within 2-3 weeks.

The group also churns out the likes of vertical gardens, tree houses and a whole bunch of other good-looking stuff my Spanish isn't good enough for, check it.

Spreading the Stuff
Though spreading pre-loved stuff quick-fast in Asia is little more than leaving it curbside for two minutes, there are projects out there who get it into a more community-driven action-aware place:
Subscribing to the spirit of 'worldwide gifting', Freecycle has already set up global chapters that have come together to organise relief projects and given us the easy-efficient recycling option.

And Really Really Free Market Days, where they believe in coming together under sunshine and offering everything really really free.
BIN IT GOOD
We blogged about Environmentaland and Global Inheritance before. Located in Hollywood, they are now shutting its doors in a week. Last chance to attend the spin and shake classes, for those who didnt know - free shakes at the end of class, power generated by you!
Their TRASHed project found a winner. The campaign that got artists involved with compost bins, trash cans and recycling containers. The art of recycling.
TCK TCK TCK
Ahead of the Copenhagen Climate Change conference this December, Time for climate justice Tck Tck Tck set up a human clock getting individuals to support the cause by uploading images/videos of a second counting down to the event.
" The collective power of millions of tcks will be used to exert pressure on the political leaders attending the Copenhagen talks in order to secure a strong, just and binding agreement to resolve the climate crisis"

So it came, the event everyone was anticipating. Zouk packed in with vendors and ULTRA as the only sustainable products booth with lots to share. The ULTRA's unable to attend yet the ULTRA dream team handled it like pro's. Cheers to all our supporters, here's to hoping you love your products as much as we love sourcing and sharing them with you. Next up, the Eco film fest!
