Plastiki

12,000 plastic bottles have been put together and now are on sail across the Pacific.

Plastiki is an upcycled plastic boat that started it's journey in San Fransisco and now makes it's way across the ocean to Australia. Stopping off at islands along the way, the crew on board look to learn and highlight environmental issues facing the Pacific islands with a mission to open eyes to re-thinking waste and it's possibilities as a resource.

High on cradle-to-cradle thinking, Plastiki's founder David de Rothschild was alarmed by the garbage patch story and got inspired to create an expedition to push understanding on the waste we produce and the innovation that is necessary to close the cycle.
