The slickest and smartest curated pieces have been snapped up by the design super agency DROOG. Many bankrupted companies products were snapped up through liquidation sales. Saved by Droog at the Milan Furniture Fair features 5135 items reworked into the latest. Featuring wallets, matches, spoons, pots, cola glasses, handkerchiefs and more. All are ready for purchase on their site along with 19 Limited edition's. Even the works of Maison Martin Margiela, Atelier Ted Van Noten, Studio Makkink and Stefan Sagmeister have been resurrected by Droog. We say this is one of the best!
Just like the SIT PROJECT we previously blogged about, these street installations by Arno Piraud caught our attention. Trees that were diseased and cut down gave way to mini seats in the city. His Cityscape project proposal highlight the use of design amongst urban spaces, we like it very much.
There's lots of seedbombs around, but this time Greenaid is bringing it to us in coin operated candy machine form. Creators Kim Karlsrud and Daniel Phillips inherited a couple of these machines from Daniel's Father, and reflecting off their involvement with the LA Guerilla Gardeners, they dreamt up these seedbomb vending machines.
Thinking creatively with clothing waste - Derick Melander transforms them into pieces of art through his sculptures as shown here. According to Derick, New Yorkers create 3,615 pounds of textile waste every 5 mins. Here's to making good use of that.
